Many clients ask whether or not moving out of state will affect their rights under the New York State Workers’ Compensation Law. The answer is no.

The fact that you have moved from New York State does not effect your entitlement to benefits. In certain cases, it is more difficult to find a doctor to treat you once you moved out of the State as insurance issues arise. Out of state doctors who are not familiar with the New York State Workers’ Compensation Laws and fee schedules may not want to take on such a patient.

Many people even leave the country and are still allowed to collect workers’ compensation benefits under the New York State Law.
